What is Dilaudid?
Dilaudid goes by the technical name hydromorphone hydrochloride, which is an analgesic used to relieve pain.

Why do people use Dilaudid?
Dilaudid is used by people to relieve pain, but often gains tolerance of this substance. As the person gets used to the drug, he might feel the need to increase his dosage. When this happens, a continuous replenishment of the amount of the drug that the body has been used to will be sensed by his system, and would require to have more of the drug. If the craving is not fulfilled, symptoms of withdrawal from dilaudid addiction will be observed on the patient.
Dilaudid addiction may also start when the desired dose of the drug is no longer enough to relieve the pain.

What are the signs of Dilaudid addiction?
Dilaudid addiction will start to become obvious on an individual if he starts to become preoccupied by the drug, or if its absence causes him to act differently from his normal self.

What are the side effects of Dilaudid?
Dilaudid, as a derivative of morphine, causes side effects that are also similar to those of its kind. The following are:

  • Stiffened muscles
  • Sweating
  • Rapid respiration rate
  • Anxiety
  • Symptoms that resemble that of the flu

At some point, people addicted to dilaudid might also develop an interest to take other opiates or regulated drugs, which can lead to farther damage to one’s health.
