What is Percodan?
Percodan is a drug that contains oxycodone and aspirin as its primary ingredients.  This combination is used as a painkiller for patients that are experiencing moderate to severe pains.  It sends signals to the brain receptors to block the sensation of pain.  Its basic compound of oxycodone is in the form of 14-hydroxydihydrocodeinone, which is obtained from an opium alkaloid called thebaine.

Why do people use Percodan?
Typically, doctors prescribe Percodan to patients who experience extreme pain, like those undergoing cancer treatment and other operations.  Percodan addiction arises from continuous induction of this substance into the body.  Percodan is a very harmful drug especially to the elderly because their systems are less tolerable of such effects.

People who are into illicit recreational drug use get into Percodan addiction just to satisfy their need for having the feeling of being numb.

What are the signs of Percodan addiction?
A person who misuses or is addicted to Percodan usually feels dizzy and has a blurry vision.  Percodan addiction may also be distinguished by frequent heartburns or an insatiable need for the drug in case the addicted person is not able to take it.  An incessant craving for the drug even after the surgery or treatment has been made is definitely a sign of dependence on Percodan.

What are the side effects of Percodan addiction?
Percodan users feel nauseated or lightheaded.  However, excessive use of the drug may result to any of the following:

  • Drug dependence.
  • Constipation.
  • Breathing disorder.
  • Impaired motor skills.
  • Weakened senses.
  • Stomach bleeding (especially when the user drinks alcohol).
  • Extreme emotions.
  • Chills or fever.
  • Dark-colored urine

Since its creation in the 50’s, Percodan became the most popular drug in America, but also one of the most dangerous ones.
