What are prescription drugs?
Prescription drugs are licensed medicines, which is controlled by law to require a prescription before you can obtain it.

What is prescription drug abuse?
About twenty percent of the population in United States alone abuse prescription drugs.

Prescription drug abuse could be explained as consuming a prescribed medicine that is not recommended to you for pleasure and increasing the dosage without the knowledge of medical practitioner.

Why do people use prescription drugs?
Some people feel that using prescription drugs instead of the usual street drugs is safer and less addictive. Medicines prescribed in psychotherapy are most likely to be abused as addictions. Some of the drugs that top the list are painkillers which contain narcotic, drug that temporarily quickens some vital process, drug that reduces excitability and calms a person and drugs used to reduce stress or tension without reducing mental clarity.

What are side effects of prescription drugs?
Depending on the dosage of drugs consumed the abused could suffer from dopiness, irregularity in motion and, and breathing difficulty. Depressants slow the function of the brain and respiration to a dangerously low level. Continuous consumption due to addiction could lead to anxiety, increase in body temperature and sometimes seizures. If the prescription drugs abuse is prolonged or is in high doses, then the stimulants may cause nervousness, paranoia, hypertension, inconsistent heartbeat or convulsions.
