Stimulants Addiction
Stimulants are like energizers which have dangerous health effects. It makes the person feel more active and full of energy. Some stimulants are legal and widely used, and can be addictive. An overuse of this drug can have either short term or long term effects and can be risky if left untreated.
Some drugs that fall under the stimulants category are caffeine, nicotine, amphetamine, cocaine, and prescription drugs. Caffeine is frequently used and is often found in tea, coffee, soft drinks and chocolates. Too much caffeine can lead to insomnia and anxiety.
Nicotine is the number three most used drugs all over the world. It is found in cigarettes and considered fashionable despite its many harmful side effects.
Amphetamines, more commonly known as “uppers” are stimulant drugs that eventually affect the nervous system. A lot of people use this drug to lose weight.
Prescription drugs like Dexedrine, Adderall and Ritalin boost the dopamine and norepinephrine of the brain, and when that happens it can ultimately increases the heart rate, blood pressure, constricts the blood vessel, raise the blood glucose and makes the person breath faster.
The short term effects of stimulants that are on low dosage are dramatic boost of the attention, energy and alertness together with the sense of total euphoria. Potential for a cardiovascular failure or lethal seizures is part of the effects or a result that is brought by too much exposure to prescription drugs.
Just like any drugs, if a person continually takes these on a regular or habitual basis then they can become addicted. High dosage of stimulants combined with repetitive use of the drugs even for a short period of time could lead to the feeling of paranoia and hostility, and additionally even high body temperatures and abnormal heartbeat.
